The implemented solution: AURORA VR AND SPACE CONFIGURATION
The teaching activity of the Escola Politècnica Superior de la Universitat de Lleida is developed through the immersive use of new technologies and the most advanced pedagogical and teaching methods, as well as Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies. This is where Invelon Technologies comes into play, integrating Aurora VR and Space Configuration solutions with HP hardware to guarantee practical training for students of the Technical Architecture and Building, Industrial, Computer Science and Design degrees at the University of Lleida, which can be applied and developed in the world of work.
About the ESCOLA POLITÈCNICA SUPERIOR OF THE UdL
The Escola Politècnica Superior (EPS) of the Universitat de Lleida is an educational centre with more than twenty-five years of history, based on high technological quality and sensitivity to the needs of the social and economic environment. The contents of the subject programmes aim to train professionals capable of adapting to the changing needs of business, technology and society, and this is reflected in the high rate of employment in its degrees. This research and innovation in the industrial and technological field also enables students to participate in leading projects related to computer science, industrial engineering and technical architecture.
What does the UdL need?
Invelon Technologies has developed the Aurora VR and Space Configuration solutions for the University of Lleida, as well as the integration of two HP Z VR BACKPACK G2 hardware devices, and the HP REVERB glasses with controllers. This new project has been carried out as a complement to the Teaching Innovation Project "Immersive learning in 3D virtual environments" of the UdL and coordinated by Professor Gabriel Perez. The main objective is to apply new Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies as a teaching tool for immersive learning, as well as a design tool in the fields of architecture and industrial engineering.
Thanks to this integration of VR and AR in the EPS, the department "EPS Extended Reality Lab" has also been created, which encompasses a set of technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 3D printing, BIM (Building Information Modelling) technologies, in order to become a reference at educational and research level for these new technologies.
Benefits
These types of solutions have brought different benefits to the Escola Politècnica Superior (EPS) of the University of Lleida:
- Competitive advantage, as it is a growing demand in the workplace.
- A boost for the students' creativity.
- It allows them to practice all the concepts acquired.
- It offers a more complete knowledge.
- It is an aid to training in construction and design.
- Personalisation of the individual experience.
- Simulation of real-world scenarios.
Client feedback
Invelon's Virtual and Augmented Reality solutions have opened up great learning possibilities for our students, as they can have a more visual and holistic knowledge, as well as explore and improve designs by generating a real experience, such as modifying the material, lighting, measurement system, among others. Thanks to the collaboration with Invelon Technologies, we have also been able to create the "EPS Extended Reality Lab", which will help us to be an educational and research benchmark for these new technologies.
