About the project and La Xefla
L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is a Catalan city of nearly 300,000 inhabitants where culture and tradition have always played a very important role. La Xefla has become one of the city's new great cultural and gastronomic symbols, born to recover popular memory and represent the diverse, open, and community-oriented essence of the municipality.
With the goal of continuing to promote and showcase this gastronomic heritage, the L'Hospitalet City Council held a new edition of the GastroTeca on June 6. This open day for the entire community, held at the La Farga complex, featured tastings, cooking demonstrations, workshops, music, and innovative experiences centered around La Xefla.
As part of this commitment to combining tradition and innovation, INVELON was the company responsible for developing a unique Virtual Reality experience, allowing attendees to become the protagonists of the preparation of the city's signature dish.
The need to popularize a traditional recipe in an innovative way
The City Council of L'Hospitalet was looking for a new way to bring the history and preparation of La Xefla closer to the public, especially to new generations. The challenge was to transform a traditional recipe into an engaging, educational, and interactive experience, capable of connecting with people of all ages.
The solution had to respect the essence of the dish, explain its preparation step-by-step, and, at the same time, add an innovative component that would enrich the visitors' experience during the event.
Our technology solution and contribution
To meet this challenge, INVELON designed an immersive Virtual Reality experience of approximately four minutes in which users could virtually prepare La Xefla's authentic recipe.
Thanks to VR technology, children and adults were immersed in a virtual kitchen where, through an interactive and guided experience, they discovered each of the steps for preparing the dish: from selecting and combining ingredients to the complete cooking process. The experience was designed with an educational and accessible approach, allowing anyone, regardless of their age or culinary knowledge, to learn the recipe in a dynamic, entertaining, and memorable way.
The result: more than 300 attendees tried the experience
This initiative demonstrates how immersive technologies can become a powerful tool for preserving cultural heritage, bringing local traditions to new audiences, and creating new ways for citizens to interact with their history. More than 300 attendees, including children, teens, and adults, had the opportunity to put on the VR goggles and virtually prepare their own Xefla.
With this project, INVELON once again demonstrates the potential of Virtual Reality as a tool for cultural transformation, capable of turning a traditional recipe into an immersive experience that fosters participation and allows a city's gastronomic legacy to continue reaching future generations.
