Case study: the Aurora VR solution applied to the company ROTECNA

The projects we work on are what back up the case studies we achieve. We explain one of our Virtual Reality projects.

At Invelon we specialise in advising on and applying Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies in businesses, offering our clients innovative and effective solutions for their products and services, such as Aurora VR.

Aurora VR, one of our Virtual Reality solutions, has been developed with the aim of analysing and manipulating 3D products in an immersive way. This Virtual Reality software can help your company with its prototype validation processes and thorough review, before moving on to the production phase. In this way, costs are significantly reduced and optimised results are achieved in less time. Such is the case of the company ROTECNA, which chose our Aurora VR solution to implement in its company and benefit from the advantages it offers.

What is Aurora VR?

Aurora VR is a Virtual Reality inspection software that allows you to interact with real models. This Virtual Reality solution for the industrial sector was specially created for design and product engineering departments, and makes it possible to analyse each prototype in detail and virtually.

There are many benefits to using our Aurora VR solution for prototype design and validation. On the one hand, it speeds up the identification of possible product malfunctions, while at the same time reducing design iterations without increasing costs.

Another advantage, related to cost reduction, is that with Aurora VR, you can validate prototypes virtually. Commonly, many physical prototypes of products are made to ensure that they meet all the functions, dimensions and ergonomics they were designed for. This traditional procedure has the drawback that many prototypes are wasted, which makes product refinement slow and uses up a lot of resources. With the Aurora VR solution you can greatly reduce, or even completely eliminate, the number of physical prototypes needed. It also allows us to validate the finishes of the final product before it goes into manufacturing.

Aurora VR also offers the ability to import models and change their scale, as well as free, parameterised movement in space. You can create points of light, section the model, import plans and apply different materials, such as metal and plastic and their finishes, among others. It also allows you to make annotations on the design and take screenshots.

How has the Aurora VR solution been applied at Rotecna?

ROTECNA is a company specialising in the design, manufacture and marketing of plastic products for the pig sector, specifically for farms. The company is positioned as a world leader in its sector and currently holds more than 50 patents and has a commercial presence in more than 85 countries.

Previously, ROTECNA's procedure for validating and refining its designs was carried out through 3D printing. However, they decided to also embrace Virtual Reality technology, to speed up design processes and product validation. Through visualisation of prototypes in Virtual Reality, ROTECNA could evaluate the result even before resorting to 3D printing.

With the aim of speeding up the design and prototyping process, they got in touch with us. They told us that they needed to test the products in a testing environment, with the possibility of doing so at full scale, and with specific tools to manipulate and modify these prototypes. They also needed the creation of a virtual environment of the farms to simulate the real installation site of their products; and one that would offer a360º visualisation of the final result of each part.

At INVELON, we worked intensively on our Aurora VR solution for design departments, in order to adapt it successfully to each company. Thanks to the creation of a series of tools, ROTECNA has been able to make improvements in an immersive way and make decision-making easier. In addition, being able to view products at full scale helps to better see all their parts and parameters, reduces the possibility of errors in the moulds or in the design and provides more options for developing new products, adapted to the needs of pig farms. In short, thanks to the Aurora VR solution, they have optimised the processes in their design department and technical office.

Advantages of applying Aurora VR in design departments such as Rotecna's

We would like to express our gratitude to the company ROTECNA for trusting us with a project of this scale. The results were more than satisfactory for them and also for us, as we always work hand in hand with our clients to design solutions tailored to their specific needs.

ROTECNA considers its experience with us to be very positive. Being able to refine the design after testing how it would be installed on the farms themselves is a huge advantage. Virtually visualising the final resultand the product in its environment of use makes it easier to implement the necessary changes and this, in turn, makes it possible to speed up production and reduce manufacturing costs.

Having the Aurora VR solution has allowed them to optimise their work and make it much more efficient. It has also opened up great possibilities for optimising the management of their resources, bringing significant improvements in their competitiveness. It therefore gives them the opportunity to make profits, thus making their investment in innovation profitable.

For all these reasons, at INVELON we continue to offer our clients solutions with cutting-edge VR and AR technology for training, logistics and warehouse management, design, assembly and massive data visualisation, among others. We invite companies to embrace these new technologies, which allow them to cut costs and also speed up their sales, marketing and communication processes.

Virtual Reality is currently a booming technology, with more and more companies choosing to incorporate it into their departments every day. If your company belongs to the industry, marketing, healthcare, education, architecture or tourism sector, you will gain enormous benefits by implementing VR and AR technologies in your business. To do so, we recommend working with our team. Our mission is to support companies like yours and help you achieve better results thanks to the technological innovation we offer.
