Optimising designs and validations: Virtual Reality for efficient prototypes at Rotecna

The solution implemented: AURORA VR
In Rotecna's design department, they constantly need to prototype their projects and, as a result, they ended up overloading their 3D printer, as it needs time. To speed up their research, they decided to take a step forward and opted for the Virtual Reality system and the Aurora VR solution, which allows them to import 3D models, inspect ergonomics and accelerate “time to market” validation.
About the company ROTECNA
At Rotecna they design, manufacture and market equipment for pig farms, such as smart feeding systems and treatments for the recovery of value from livestock slurry
At Rotecna, they help pig farmers all over the world to produce healthy animals with the greatest welfare and in the most efficient, sustainable and profitable way. Continuing to increase their customers' profits requires continuous evolution and investment in new, ever more innovative and efficient products and solutions, such as Virtual Reality.
What does ROTECNA need?
This Virtual Reality case study arose with the aim of speeding up the design process of the customer's products. Rotecna needed to create a safe testing environment in which to test and inspect life-size models with a set of specific tools. On the other hand, it was also necessary to create an option that would allow the functionality of the product to be studied on the farms themselves, simulating the installation site.
To do so, we created a Virtual Reality system tailored to their needs to carry out these tasks, with the intention of making it easier to make the right decisions. The virtual visualisation of the product integrated into a real space will make it possible to check the situation and, as a result, make the best decisions for the assembly and final manufacture of each product.
Thanks to INVELON's Virtual Reality solutions for design departments, we created a product with which the customer is able to render their models in three dimensions and integrate them into Virtual Reality scenarios. This allows Rotecna to have a realistic 360º perspective of what the final result of each part will be and of the possible uses and improvements that can be made to it.
Benefits
The Aurora VR solution allows them to examine their products at full size and inspect them with a set of specific tools for a deeper study. They can also simulate their installation site on the farm and thus place themselves in an almost real space in which to make better decisions, such as the optimal location for the installation and for the animal.
In conclusion, this solution helps them to be more efficient by enhancing their intuition, to detect possible errors in advance, to be more agile in the design process and to reduce costs, among other benefits.
