"Being among the 29 companies advising the European Commission on Tech Tourism places INVELON at the core of tourism"
We interview Javier Argente, Director of INVELON South and member of the European Commission's T4T Digital Transition (Together for EU Tourism) expert group.

Question: Hello Javier. First of all, congratulations on your participation in the European Commission's T4T Tourism expert group. What does it mean for INVELON to be one of the 29 companies that make up this group?
Answer: It is a huge honour and, at the same time, a significant responsibility. Being among those 29 companies across Europe confirms that the work we have been doing on emerging technologies in the tourism sector, such as augmented reality, virtual reality and applied digital transformation, has real strategic value.
At INVELON we advocate democratising technology and taking it where it generates tangible impact, where it helps overcome barriers and gives society access to truly immersive and transformative experiences. Spatial Intelligence technologies applied to tourism are a great catalyst for achieving this. And being part of this expert group shows us that the talent and innovation we develop at INVELON, from Europe, are on a par with the high demands of the EU environment.
Q: For those who are not fully familiar with the initiative, what exactly is the role of the European Commission through the T4T group?
A: The Together for EU Tourism (T4T) group was created to lead the green and digital transition strategy of the European tourism ecosystem, as set out in the EU's Transition Pathway for Tourism.
Specifically, the Digital Transition subgroup works as an advisory and driving body. Its main role is to advise the European Commission on decision-making, public policy design and the technology roadmap.
Among other things, we assess how artificial intelligence, data management, digital twins and immersive experiences can make European tourism more competitive, more environmentally friendly and more accessible in the face of global challenges.
Q: One of the great challenges of tourism today is sustainability. How does technology help make tourism more digital and also greener?
A: Digitalisation and sustainability go hand in hand. It is what in Europe we call the "twin transition" (Twin Transition). Technology makes it possible, for example, to reduce the carbon footprint through digital guides and itineraries that eliminate physical materials, or to intelligently redirect the flow of tourists towards less crowded areas.
In addition, virtual reality makes it possible to create educational experiences about the conservation of protected natural areas without causing any physical impact on them.
Q: What does INVELON specifically bring to this EU working table?
A: We bring experience and knowledge, a technical and practical vision, the result of the many projects developed over almost a decade in the tourism, heritage and culture sectors. In European public administration, big visions of the future are often defined, and to be able to deliver them with guarantees, leading companies in the sector are needed to bring those ideas down to earth.
This experience allows INVELON to bring to the Commission the know-how acquired over the years, through the creation, development and implementation of projects in training, maintenance, cultural outreach and interactive tourism experiences.
We are also proud to bring the territorial perspective, the regional sensitivity of all the territories where we are present with our own team, with offices, or where the clients for whom we have developed projects are based.
The digitalisation of tourism should not be concentrated only in major capital cities, but extend to cultural, rural and sustainable destinations across the whole continent, an essential factor for the real democratisation of technology.
Q: Looking at it from the opposite perspective, how does it benefit INVELON and its clients to be present in this body of the European Commission?
A: The advantages are direct and operate on several levels. On the one hand, strategic anticipation. We are in the place where European standards, regulations and future funding lines are debated and drafted before they reach the market. This allows us to adapt our solutions months or years in advance, and to warn our clients early so that they can prepare, plan and stay one step ahead.
Being at the table where advice is given and close to where decisions are made also allows us to share space and debate with the main players, corporations, technology centres and public authorities of European tourism. That gives us the opportunity to pass that global knowledge directly on to our clients and to apply directly to our projects the best practices we absorb in Brussels.
Q: One last question. How would you define, in a single sentence, the main advantage and distinguishing factor of INVELON's participation in the Commission?
A: Working with INVELON and trusting us means being backed by the same standards that the European Commission defines. Excellence, commitment, innovation and responsibility towards society and the planet.
